Well done, Starbucks

February 11, 2011 by eident Leave a Comment

I stopped at Starbucks today to get my fix and waited a few extra moments at the counter than I am used to waiting.  There was no hurry and I wasn’t annoyed. After a few moments a barista came over and asked me what I would like.  I said, “Coffee for my mug.”  The barista then took my mug, rinsed it out with hot water then began pouring the Pikes Place Roast.  Now, I’m a dark roast snob.  I stopped him and asked if I could have the Café Verona if there was any.  He said he could brew some for me if I would like.  I said, still not annoyed, “No bother, Pike’s Place is fine.”  The barista filled the mug, placed it in front of me and said, “It’s on us.”  Whoa!  I wasn’t expecting a free mug of coffee nor even an apology.  However, the barista recognized than I was getting less than what I should expect from Starbucks and made it right.  Well done.
