For the last 5 years, my running buddies and I enjoy running in a local forest. The forest used to be a gravel strip mine. The tailings have created really cool features in the terrain. The Chicago Area Mountain Bikers group have created and maintained a maze of trails through the park. It’s also frequented by equestrian riders. When we step in something squishy, we hopes it’s mud.
Some of the best times is running in the woods before the sunrise. Using only a headlamp to light the trail.
This past Saturday I brought my GoPro to record the run. The colors of the vapor lights in the adjacent campground and the blue hue of the sun rising creates a really interesting color scheme.
